Hello everyone! Kyuusei here to teach you Japanese and show what I find interesting about Japan. With that being said, let’s continue.

GRAMMAR NOTES
[てみる]
Used when you trying something new for the first time. It is conjugated with the てー Form to make the grammar more versatile.
てー Form + みる
Ex: ドリアンを食べてみる。
I will try to eat durian.
[ようとする]
This is used when you are making an attempt to do something. The tense of this grammar will be depend on who you are referring to. If it is present tense, you are talking about someone else.
Volitional form (おう ー Form) + とする
Ex: 彼女はピアノを弾こうとしています。
She is attempting to play the piano.
An unsuccessful attempt is usually paired with “but (が)”
Ex: 彼女はピアノを弾こうとしているが、できないと思う。
She is attempting to play the piano, but I don’t think she can.
If it is past tense, you are talking about yourself and it is based on a failed attempt.
Ex: カレーを作ろうとしましたかが、焦げてしまった。
I attempted to make curry but I ended up burning it.

- You are eating lunch with your classmate. He notices that you always pack rice in your lunchbox. He asks if you ever eat bread. Tell him that you used to eat bread everyday when you were a child, but you didn’t eat rice much.
子供の時毎日パンを食べましたけど、ご飯はあんまり食べませんでした。
- Your friend knows that you are in a relationship, so they ask you if you have met their parents yet. Tell your friend that you met the mother last week and you also met the father yesterday.
練習、彼氏／彼女のお母さんに出会いました。昨日、お父さんにも出会いました。
- Your roommate, Josh, is looking for his skateboard. Tell him that it was under the sofa the day before yesterday.
おととい、ジョシュのスケットボードはソファーの下にありましたよ。
- You are playing some tsume shogi in the mall. A passerby asks you where you play shogi. Tell them that you play usually play online but you sometimes play at the mall.
たいていオンラインでします。ときどきマールでもします。
- Good job! You passed your Japanese Exam with a perfect score. Some of your classmates as if you ever study with your friends. Tell them that you usually study by yourself at home.
たいてい家で一人で勉強します。
- You have noticed your big brother has gone shopping again(Must be preparing for the holidays?). However, you notice there are some video games and a specially customized desktop computer in the bag. Strange, he doesn’t know anything when it comes to computers. So, ask him who he went shopping with today.
今日、誰と買い物に行きましたか。
- You have some friends coming over tonight and you only have one TV in the house. You ask your roommate if you can use the TV tonight. However, they tell you no. Ask them why.

JLPT N5 VERBS
1. 点ける（つける）- To turn on
a. ここには暗いからライターをつけた。
It’s dark in here so I turned on my lighter.
b. 電気をつけて、台所に行きました。
I turned on the light and went into the kitchen.
2. 勤める（つとめる）- To work for
a. 卒業したら、人気会社に勤めりたいです。
When I graduate, I want to work for a popular company.
b. ゲームが好きです。特にこの会社のゲームです。だから、この会社で勤めりたいんです。
I like games. Especially this company’s games. So, that is the reason why I want to work for this company.
3. 出かける（でかける）- To go out/ To leave the house
a. 一緒に出かけたら、何をしたいですか。
If we leave the house together, what do you want to do?
b. 出かけたから、ご飯をいりません。
I won’t need lunch, since I’m heading out.
4. できる – Can do
a. デクができる。
Deku can do it.
b. 自分に信じたら、何でもできます。
If you believe in yourself, you can do anything.
5. 出る（でる）- To leave, To come out
a. しまった。電車もう出たよ。
Darn. The train already left.
b. ビルでおばけが出た。👻
A ghost appeared in the building.
6. 飛ぶ（とぶ）- To fly
a. きっと、飛べるさ、ＯＮ ＭＹ ＬＯＶＥ。
Surely, we can fly on my love.
b. バンパイアはバットに変わって、飛びました。
The vampire turned into a bat and flew.
DIALOGUES
[食べてみる]
A: ねえ、イザヤ、何の肉ですか。
B: えーと。。。おいしいですね。
A: うん、おいしいけれど、この肉は全然食べませんでした。これはチキン？もしかしてビーフ？
B: すっぽんです。
A: すっぽんって何？
B: すっぽんはかめです。
A: えっ。。。かっかっかめ？
B: そうですよ。おいしいでしょう。
A: うん、おいしい。ちょっとびっくりです。
B: じゃ、食べましょう。次はしらこです。
A: けっこうです。
[Let’s try eating it]
A: Hey, Izaya, what meat is this?
B: Uuum… it’s good isn’t it?
A: Yeah it’s good but, I never had this meat before. Is this chicken? Or maybe beef?
B: It’s Suppon.
A: What is Suppon?
B: Suppon is turtle.
A: Eh… T-t-turtle?
B: That’s right. it’s good, right?
A: Yeah, it’s good. It’s a little shocking.
B: Well, Let’s keep eating. Next is Shirako.
A: No thanks.
ヒビキのにっき
エレベーターに戻って、一階に行った。しまった。僕たちは財団員に囲まれた。グラヂオ君は「邪魔するヤツは倒す。。。」と言った。たしかに。アイツは弱いだよ。ハウ君、本当ですか？一人で戦えませんか？で、ペリッパーとバンバドロか？ビヤコ、戻れ！ゆけ、クロヒゲ！やはりハウ君のライチュウは倒れた。ペリッパーに電気タイプの技を使いませんでしたかよ。（ハウ君、マジにしている？）あ、すごい。ハウ君はシャワーズがいる。ちょっと待って。どうしてまずにそのポケモンを使うのか。とにかく、かった。グラヂオ君は「仲良く。。。ではないがお前らがいてよかった」と言った。わー、グラヂオ君僕たちことをちょっと好きになりましたか。感動しました。ビッケは急にいて、グラヂオ君に「ぼっちゃま」を呼んだ。え、僕たちのポケモンを治れた。悪い人じゃない？いいね。
あ、リリエちゃんと会長は一緒いるか。ドアがロックした？それは止まれないだ。ぶつかるよ！いいなあ、ザオボーと財団員たちがいる。それに、ザオボーは鍵を持った。ハウ君は「だったらー隠れていたら先に進まれることもないのにー」と言った。へー！そうと思うよ。ザオボーはバカじゃないか？全然考えませんでした。とにかく、時間がない。ぶっ飛ばしよう！グラヂオ君？！グラヂオ君と一緒にだーバルバトルします。信じられない。この財団員はバカだよ。かれのポケモンはみんなに「ほうでん」の技を使った。
そのバトルは終わった。さ、ザオボー。ラウンド２だ！くそ、グラヂオ君はパトーナーがほしい。ハウ君はちょっと。。。エスパータイプにエスパーの技を使うが一体誰ですか。何だそれ。ゲーその魚キモいそうだった。どんなポケモン？ハギギシリ？ビヤコはそのポケモンとスリーパーにラリアットをあげた。両方は抜群だ！鍵ありがとう、ザオボー。よしーみんな行こうぜ！
HIBIKI’S JOURNAL
I returned to the elevator and went to the first floor. Crap. Foundation employees surrounded us. “Gotta take them out” Gadion said. Fine by me. These guys are weak anyway. Really Hau. You can’t fight by yourself? So, a Mudsadle and a Pelipper, huh. Biyako, return! Kurohige, go! Hau’s Raichu was taken down as expected. Why did you use an electric type move on Pelipper? (Hau are you taking this seriously?) Cool he has a Vaporeon. Wait a minute. Why didn’t you use that first? Anyway, we won. Gladion said “I know we are not friends, but I’m glad you guys are here”. Aw, Gladion likes us. I’m so moved. Wicke just showed calling Gladion “Young master”. Eh, she healed are Pokemon. I thought all of you were bad people.
Ah, so Lillie is with the President, huh? The doors are locked? That’s not stopping us. We’re going to bust on through! Great Faba and some employees are here. And he has the key. “If you would’ve stayed hidden, we would have been stuck here” Hau said. Hah! Thought the same thing. Is Faba an idiot? He didn’t think about that at all. Anyway, we don’t have time for this. Let’s blow them all away! Gladion?! In a double battle with my?! Unbelievable. This foundation employee is an idiot! He let his Electabuzz use discharge on everyone.
That fight’s over. Now, Faba. Time for Round 2! Darn I wish I could fight with Gladion again. Hau is a little… who uses psychic on psychic type Pokemon? What the heck ? Man that fish was creepy. What Pokemon was that? A Brawfish? Biyako gave it and Hypno a Lariat. Both super effective. Thank for the key, Faba. All right, let’s go guys.
