Hello everyone! Kyuusei here to teach you Japanese and show what I find interesting about Japan. With that being said, let’s continue.

Used to describe that someone is giving/doing a favor for someone else. You can put くださる instead of くれる for another layer of politeness. You can also add てくれてありがとう after the てーForm Verb to say thanks to someone for doing something for you.
The giver + は/が + The receiver + に + Verb[てーForm] + くれる/くださる
Ex: 彼はすごく雑な人だ。しかし彼はルームメイトにアパートを掃除してくれたら、ルームメイトが驚いた。
(He is a very sloppy person but when he cleaned the room, the roommate was surprised. )
Ex: 無事で帰ってくれてありがとう。
(Thank you for returning home safely.)
[てくる]
to come to, to become, to continue, to do… and come back
Usually used to say that you will go do something and come back. Remember the phrase 行ってきます? Literally means I’ll go and come back.
It can also mean that something continues or becomes something as well.
Verb[てーForm] + くる
Ex: コンビニで行ってくる。一緒に行かない?
(I’m going to the convenience store (and coming back). Wanna come?)
Ex: ヒーローのクエストが始まっていくる。
(The hero’s quest begins.)

A Law To Make It Easier For Men To Take Off From Work to Take Care Of Their Children
The government has decided to get the rate of working men more time off to raise their children to 30% by 2025. However, according to the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare, the rate of men taking off from work was 7.48% in 2019.
The National Diet met for 3 days, to pass a law so men can take more time off to raise their children. The new law allows men 4 weeks off for children who were born within 8 weeks. They can split into two weeks of 4. The law will also help in situations such as a baby being born or the woman has an emergency.
Before this law, workers had to request leave 1 month in advance but with this new law it’s become a 2-week advance.
After April 2023, over 1000 people who work in companies will be used as the data set and the new rate of men taking off to take care of their children will be released.
Don’t have much to say about this article (I thought it’d be a good article prior to Father’s Day). This is great news for working men able to do paternal leave. Hopefully the results will turn out for the better.

白雨
白(はく)
This kanji is the word for white. It can be read as しろ、はく、 はっ、etc.
雨(う)
This kanji is the word for rain. It can be read as あめ、あま~、 う、etc. So together, we have a “white shower”. Could the white be coming from the white clouds? Surely it’s not raining milk. So perhaps…
Put together it means a “rain shower” or “sun shower”. In other words, rain that falls when it is sunny and white clouds are in the sky.
Simply put this was a fairly easy translation. However I wanted to discuss the anime’s title and break that down to some degree as well.
恋は雨上がりのように is what it is called.
恋(こい) means love. And we know that は is a particle that is used to talk about a topic. In this case love. In short we can read this as “Love is” for now.
雨上がり(あめあがり)
It has the kanji for rain, 雨 and the kanji for rise, 上がり. When put together, it means “after the rain” which is what the official translation has given us as the title. However, as you can see from the “Love is” there is more to this title than just that.
の in this context is a possessive particle but when put with ように it ends up translating to “like” or “similar to”.
So a more direct translation would be “Love is Like After the Rain”.
I’ve been wanting to watch this show for many years. Unfortunately, the show was on Amazon’s anime streaming platform Anime Strike when it aired. Had to be an Amazon Prime member and had to pay an extra fee in order to watch the anime that they licensed. Pretty crappy on their part but I digress. Now that HiDive has licensed it, I’m finally able to watch it. As you can see I only have two episodes to go now (I will probably finish the show today). If my reading comprehension gets better I might want to head over to bookwalker and buy the manga since it ended back in 2018. Plus, it only has 10 volumes.
The show follows a former high school track star who ends up falling in love with her manager at the diner she works at. They have quite the age gap and yet she still is in love with him. For these types of relationships to be explored in one of my favorite mediums is interesting to say the least. I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. Most likely an 8/10 score for me.
REI’S JOURNAL
Heard from a kid that there was a huge Pokemon on the next route. Could it be a Snorlax. I want it. Met Professor Oak’s assistant. Only caught 15 Pokemon, so I can’t get the Itemfinder. I looked through the binoculars. Looks like I can get to Lavender Town through the Rock Tunnel. But why would I take that way? I can just go this way. I looked in the other binoculars, and saw a Snorlax sleeping in the road. Well darn. Maybe I can catch it then head to Lavender Town. Killing two birds with one stone.
Or not. Snorlax won’t wake up. Tried pushing it but failed. Inazuma thought my efforts were hilarious. Guess we’ll have to go the other way. Before that, I wonder where Diglett Tunnel leads to? Wanted to catch Diglett and name it Doug but Ikkokesei killed it in one move. At the end of the tunnel, a man told me that Rock Tunnel is dark and scary but there’s a move called Flash that can help. Nice tip.
I left the tunnel and it looks like I’m close to Pewter City. There’s another one of Professor Oak’s assistants. He gave me the HM 05 Flash. Nice timing. I’ll teach it to Choumu. Also taught Ikkokesei Thunderbolt. She sure can learn a lot of things. Found another moonstone. How do I use this thing anyway? Oh, I see. It looks like Ikkokesei can evolve if I give it to her. Cool, she became a Nidoqueen!
In conclusion, I hope that this series is helpful with your journey to learning Japanese and/or taking an interest in the country’s culture. Until then… また来週!
