Hello everyone! Kyuusei here to teach you Japanese and show what I find interesting about Japan. With that being said, let’s continue.
日本語のイベント
ハローウィンは今週です。小さいときから祝いませんでしたけど、日本に行ければ、祝ってかもしりません。しかし、どんなキャラは仮装するかなあ？最近、日本でハローウィンはもっと楽しいけど、ちょっとやばい。日本でハローウィンのお祝いは楽しいそうけど、問題がある。それでも、祝ってみる。

GRAMMAR NOTES
[かぎる]
This grammar point is used when you want to describe something that can’t be compared to anything else. You can use it for nouns and for verbs (the verbs have to be in plain form).
Noun ＋に限る＝＞ “Nothing beats”/“Nothing better than”/“There’s nothing like”
Base Verb ＋に限る＝＞ “Nothing beats”/“Nothing better than”/“There’s nothing like”
Ex: ジェリードーナツに限る。
Nothing beats a Jelly Donut.
[すぎる]
This grammar point is used to say that something is nothing but a “____” or just/only a “____”. Think of this as a advance grammar of だけ.
Noun ＋にすぎません/すぎない
Base Verb ＋(だけ)にすぎません/すぎない
Ex: A: ホットドッグはサンドイッチにすぎないだ。
B: それはあなたの意見にすぎません。
A: A hot dog is nothing but a sandwich.
B: That is nothing but your opinion.
トピックスを答えましようか
- Your classmate is asking you if you have told your parents about getting into the college you wanted. Tell him that you have talked to your mother but not with your dad.
お母さんと話しましたが、お父さんとは話しませんでした。
- You are on a graduation trip with your clubmates and have arrived in Shibuya. When you walk out of a souvenir shop, a classmate asks you what you bought. Tell her that you bought 3 cute keychains.
かわいいキーボードを３個買いました。
- You are on your third date with your boyfriend/girlfriend in the park where you both see a bunch of children playing. Ask him/her what kind of child he/she was when he/she was a kid.
小さいとき、どんな子供でしたか。
- You are talking to your coworkers after work. Suggest to go drinking tonight at an Izakaya.
今晩一緒に居酒屋でお酒を飲みましょうか。
- The whole family has taken a trip to Seattle and your brother is teaching you how to play Smash Bros competitively. A new friend has asked if you played Smash Bros. on Friday and Saturday. Tell them that you played on Friday, but not on Saturday.
金曜日にはスマッシュブラザーズをしましたけど、土曜日にはし ませんでした。
- You are having a chat with your sister on where you want to move next. Tell her that you don’t want to live in a loud and lively city.
うるさくて、にぎやかな市には住みたくないです。
JLPT N5 VERBS
1. 入る（はいる）– To enter
a. 花子ちゃんの噂を聞いているので、女のコはトイレに入りた くない。
Because she heard the Hanako-chan rumor, the girl does not want to go into the bathroom.
b. お風呂に入ったとき、怖い声が聞こえる。
When I went to take a bath, I heard a scary voice.
2. 履く（はく）– To put on shoes
a. このブーツはきついから、履いてことができない。
These boots are tight, so I can’t put them on.
b. 夢で靴の中に毛と血があるので、あの靴を二度と履きま せんでした。
In my dream there was fur and blood in my shoes so I never wore those shoes again.
3. 始まる（はじまる）– To begin, To start
a. 学校であの事件が始まりました。
That case started at the school.
b. 一番怖いの映画が始まりますよ。
The scariest movie is starting.
4. 走る（はしる）– To run
a. ナイフを持っている友達は俺を追っていたから、俺は一所懸命 に走りました。
My friend chased me with a knife so I ran with all my might.
b. 少年はキラーの正体が気づいたとき靴を履いて走りました。
When the boy realized who the killer was, he put on his shoes and ran.
5. 働く（はたらく）– To work
a. この町でハローウィンは忙しくてうるさいくせに、今日、働か ないと。
Even though this town is busy and loud on Halloween, I have to work today.
b. お化け屋敷で働いています。
I work in a haunted house.
6. 話す（はなす）- To speak
a. 怖い話を話しましょう。
Let’s tell scary stories.
b. ユーチューバーはこのビデオでオタクの関係恐怖物語を話しま した。
A YouTuber told otaku related horror stories in this video.
DIALOGUES
[ 吸血鬼女は一体誰？Pt. II]
B: あの女は写真の女に似ている。
A: そうですね。しかし、アタシはこの写真を撮ってどうやって？彼女は吸血鬼じゃないでしょう？
B: あ。。。ね。。。
A: え、ごめん、聞こえない。何を言ったの？
B: えと。。。あの女は吸血鬼じゃない。姉だよ。
A: え？！うそ！まさか、姉さんはコスプレーヤーなんの？
B: うん。アニメのキャラよ。あの女の名前はなんとかキヅショタだと思う。
C:キスショットだよ、妹。
AとB:きゃあああ！
[Who is that Vampire? Pt. II]
A: That woman looks like the one in the picture.
B: That’s right. But how did I take this picture? Isn’t she a vampire?
A: That’s… my…
B: Eh, sorry, I can’t hear you. What did you say?
A: Uh, That woman is not a vampire. That’s my sister.
B: What?! No way! Is your sister a cosplayer.
A: Yeah. It’s an anime character. I think that woman’s name is Kid’s Shota or something.

C: よし、行こう。ええ、けいこちゃん、久しぶー え？！その仮装はキングダムハーツのカイリ？！

C: あの、けいこちゃん、大丈夫？顔が赤い。みやこ、何を笑っているのか。
B: なんでもない。（これは最高のハローウィンだよ。）行くよ！
[The Best Halloween]
A: Miyako-chan, will you go Trick or Treating with me?
B: I want to go. Let’s get a lot of candy.
A: Can you invite your big brother?
B: (I forgot. Keiko likes big bro.) Wait. I’ll ask.
A: Okay.
B: Hey, bro.
C: What? Eh, Miyako. You look like Namine.
B: Yeah. It’s Halloween, bro.
C: Oh, I see. Anyway, what is it?
B: I want to go trick or treating with Miyako-chan. Let’s go together.
C: I see. But, I don’t have a costume.
B: Oh yeah! I have a maid dress. You can definitely wear it.

C: Even though I made it for Comiket, I’ll wear it.

C: All right, let’s go. Eh, Keiko-chan, long time no s-?! Is that costume Kairi from Kingdom Hearts?!

ヒビキのにっき
ポ二の荒磯で観光客が勝負を仕掛けてきた。彼女は岩タイプのポケモンがたくさんいる。ハンタークロシとヌルコは経験値が必要だから、戦わないと。彼女はゴローンに入れ替えた。だから、コチャマに入れ替えた。やはり、ゴローン爆発した。ハンタークロシが死んじゃったかもしれないから、コチャマに入れ替えてよかった。うわ！ここは間欠泉があった。濡れるになるから、近くに立たないべきだ。ここも水タイプポケモンが多いので、ビリビリレキももっと強くになる。TM ポニの荒磯を見つけた。リリィちゃんと僕は彼岸の遺跡に行った。は！リリィちゃんはこのでかいキューブを動いてみた。さがって、リリィちゃん。カイリキーを使った（姫抱っこがまだ嫌いだけど。）次の部屋に行こう。
あ、ハプウちゃんを見つけた。何をするんでしたか？あ、なるほど。ハプウちゃんは新しいカフナになった。ハプウちゃんは伝説ポケモンルナアーラのことを話していました。それに、つきのふえはナッシー・アイランドがある。それから、チーフに「あのアイランドに送ってくれませんか」と尋ねた。サンとコイキングに乗った。着いたとき、木から変な音が来た。ちょっと。。。その木はポケモンだった！すごくびっくりだった！掴みたい。変なポケモンだなあ。僕の地方のナッシーはアロラ地方のナッシーに似ていない。長い首がある。キリンみたいけど、ナッシーは木だろう。キリンキ。そのポケモンはキリンキを呼ぶ。高さてば、僕よりリリィちゃんのほうが背が高いを気付いた。彼女はかかとの靴が履いたなあ。あ、雨が降ったから、空洞に入った。
リリィちゃんはお母さんと自分の記憶のことを話していた。お、「雨に唄えば」を見た？面白い。リリィちゃんはトレーナーになりたくて、僕と一緒に旅行したい。まさか、リリィちゃんは僕のことを．．．あ雨が止まった。ふん？お、空洞に大きな真珠があった。よしー！上り坂に歩いて、リリィちゃんを見つけた。リリィちゃんは台座で何かを見た。お、これは月の笛だった！ポ二島に戻ろう。チーフはポ二の大峡谷のことを話していました。あの場所は伝説ポケモン、ルナアーラを洗われる。ポケモンセンターに行ってポケモンを治す。もう直ぐ大きなバトルだ。ワクワクした！
HIBIKI’S JOURNAL
I fought this tourist at Poni Breaker Coast. She had many rock type Pokemon. Hantakuroshi and Nuruko need experience, so they need to fight. She sent out a Graveler. So, I switched to Kochama. As expected, Graveler self-destructed. Hantakuroshi would have died, so I’m glad that I switched to Kochama. Woah! This place has geysers. I shouldn’t get so close since I’ll get wet. There are a lot of Water type Pokemon here, so Biribirireki can also get stronger. I found TM 79 Frost Breath. Lillie and I went into the Ruins of Hope. Hah. Lillie tried to move this huge cube. Step back Lillie. I used Machamp (Still don’t like being carried like a princess though.) Let’s go to the next room.
Oh, we found Hapu. What is she doing? Ah she became the Kahuna. Some sort of rite of passage ceremony? Hapu told us about Lunala, the legendary Pokemon. Plus the moon flute is on Exeggutor Island. So we asked the chief to take us to that island. We rode on the SS Magikarp. When we arrived, a strange noise came from a palm tree. Wait… the palm tree was a Pokemon! I was so surprised! I want to catch it. This is one strange Pokemon. Exeggutor doesn’t look like this from my region. It has a long neck like a giraffe (kirin) but it is a tree (ki)… Kirinki. I’ll call it Kirinki. Speaking of height, I just noticed Lillie is taller than me. Could she be wearing heeled shoes? Ah, it started to rain so we went into a cave.
Lillie told me about a memory of her with her mom. Oh, she’s seen “Singing in the Rain”? Interesting. Lillie wants to become a trainer and travel with me. No way could Lillie… Oh the rain stopped. Hm? Oh, there’s a big pearl in this cave. Nice! I went up the path and found Lillie. She’s looking at something on the pedestal. Oh, it’s the moon flute. Now let’s get back to Poni Island. The chief told us about the Vast Poni Trail. Then the legendary Pokemon will appear. I’ll go to the Pokemon Center and heal my Pokemon. I might have a big battle soon. I’m getting pumped!
