日本語の練習 第19週 Japanese Practice Week 19
Hello everyone! Kyuusei here to teach you Japanese and show what I find interesting about Japan. With that being said, let’s continue.
日本語のエベント
今週はちょっとつまらないでした。お陰様で、新しくて面白いアニメを見ました。「少女終末旅行」や「魔入りました！入間くん」や 「涼風」を見ました。まだこれらのアニメを見終えていません。しかし、これらのアニメはすごく楽しいです。この週末、バーベキューをしましたり、ボードゲームをしたり、僕は姉と一緒に外で散歩しました。そして、姉は新しいカメラを使った。
Progress
It took me longer than expected, but I finally finished all the JLPT N5 Vocabulary this week. I can now review them every three days out of the week. Perhaps, I will space it out in the week to get more exposure and to set a schedule to study. For now, I’ll set it for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to see if that works.
On another note, I can probably do the N5 exam this year. It’s not the highest I would like to go but it can be a first step for me. Then next year I can take the N4 exam. I still have another 8 months before the JLPT gets here, so I still have enough time to get the N4 vocabulary, grammar, and kanji down. I’ll think about it. Besides, I have the time.
Grammar Notes
Verb + まい
Ever get that feeling that you really don’t want to study or clean your room? Want to make it clear you certainly won’t do something? Look no further than this verb conjugation. This verb conjugation is used for when you have a stronger will or desire to not do something.
For る- Verbs
Verb + Drop る + まい
Ex: この料理を食べまい！(I’m not eating this dish!)
For う- Verbs
Dict-form of Verb + まい
Ex: デパートで買うまい！(I don’t shop at the department store!)
For Irregular – Verbs
する➔ しまい・すまい・するまい
くる➔ こまい・くるまい
Extra Note: Younger speakers will usually use the unconjugated form (due to the dictionary form being more informal and forceful, it is expected for younger speakers to talk like this.)
Ex: その失敗を二度としまい。 (I won’t make that mistake again.)
Ex: もう絶対アニメを見まい。 (I’m not watching anime.)
You can use this for the ending sentence word です, to say something is false.
Swap だろう・でしょうwith まい and you are all set.
Ex: 彼女は聞きないだろう。➔ 彼女は聞くまい。(She is probably not listening.)
Dialogues
テストがあるけど、勉強したくない！ （Mixed）
ケン: ね、ソラ、日本語を勉強しよう。
ソラ: なんで？僕は忙しいだよ。明日生物のテストがあるんだよ。
ケン: 漢字と文法をぜんぜん分からない。さらに、あさっては日本語のテストがあるから。
ソラ: たいへんだね。勉強していましたか？
ケン: いいえ、勉強したくないよ。
ソラ: 。。。とにかく、勉強することが必要だ。じゃ、生物のテストの後、図書館に会いましょう。けんーくんを手伝います。
ケン: ありがとう。
あさってに
ソラ: ケンーくん、昨日はどこにいるんだっけ？今日ケンーくんは日本語のテストがあるだね。
ケン: あ、ソラ、ごめん。寝坊した。忘れましょう。
ソラ: おいおい。失敗したいのか。
ケン: はい～もちろんです～
ソラ: （このバカ！）
I have a test, but I don’t want to study!
KEN: Hey, Sora, let’s study Japanese.
SORA: Why? I’m busy. I have a biology test tomorrow.
KEN: I don’t understand Kanji and grammar at all. Additionally, there is a Japanese test the day after tomorrow.
SORA: That’s tough. Were you studying?
KEN: No, I don’t want to study.
SORA: …Anyway, it is important to study. Well, let’s meet at the library after the biology test. I’ll help you.
KEN: Thank you.
The day after tomorrow…
SORA: Ken, where the heck were you yesterday?
KEN: Oh, Sora, I’m sorry. I overslept.
SORA: Hey, hey. Do you want to fail?
KEN: Yes, of course～. (In this context the 『～』 is used to emphasize the length in the words. In other words, he is mocking Sora.)
SORA: (“This idiot!”)
イライラの質問 (Mixed)
おじさん: 何を食べましたか。
こども: 昨日の料理が作ったを食べました。
おじさん: 昨日何を作ったのか。
こども: 昨日の料理が作ったを食べましたよ。
おじさん: 君は答えるまいか。
こども: はい。そうです。
おじさん: なんで？
こども: おじさん、毎日この質問は尋ねりますからよ。
Irritating Questions
UNCLE: What did you eat?
CHILD: I ate the dish I cooked yesterday.
UNCLE: What did you cook yesterday?
CHILD: The dish I cooked yesterday.
UNCLE: You won’t answer?
CHILD: Yes. That’s right.
UNCLE: Why?
CHILD: Uncle, you ask me this question every day.
ヒビキのにっき
Brooklet Hill に戻りました。Lanaは「みずうみのなかでジャブジャブ水を羽化している人は誰ですか。」と言いました。「しらべてください。」と言いました。（おいおい。Lanaはキャプテンではありませんか。自分ができませんか。）とにかく、調べています。Mishiwashiは湖に飛び出した！びっくりでした。しかし、僕のポケモンはこのポケモンを倒した。Lanaは「調べましょう」と言いました。まずに、Lana～僕に何かをするように言わないでくれ。それに、いつあそこに行ったのか。本当ですか。このちょさはトライアルの始めですか。まあいいか。
湖の中心にLaprasに乗りました。すごい！大きいMishiwashiは僕たちを攻撃しました！くろひげのHidden Powerは僕たちに助かった！岸辺に戻りました。LanaにWaterium ZとDive Ballと釣竿をもらいました。SudowoodoはWaterium Zを見た時、彼らは早く走った。でわ、６ばんどうりに行きましょう。
Hibiki’s Journal
We are back at Brooklet Hill. Lana said, “who is the one that is splashing in the water”. “Investigate it” she said. (Hey, aren’t you a captain. Can’t you do it yourself?). Anyway, I will investigate. Mishiwashi jumped out of the lake! I was surprised. However, we defeated this Pokémon. Lana then said, “Let’s investigate”. First, Lana, don’t order me around. Also, when did you get over there? Really? Is this the beginning of the trial? Oh well.
I rode a Lapras to the center of the lake. Amazing! A big Mishiwashi attacked us! Kurohige’s Hidden Power saved us (It’s an electric type move. Pretty cool.) We returned to the shore. Lana gave me a Waterium Z, a dive ball, and a fishing rod. When Sudowoodo saw the Waterium Z, they ran fast. Well, let’s go to route 6.
